The Wave

Rain was coming on as I walked out today, I kept to the road for a change to avoid the mud. Looking for brightly coloured leaves in the dim light I spotted these maple leaves performing a wave as if at a football match.

I found it difficult to decide on how dark to make the image, too light and the yellow orange leaves lost their detail and saturation, too dark and they no longer popped. I used a radial filter to make the green leaves bluer, darker and less saturated, giving the impression the maple leaves are more intense.

I didn't stay out long, getting frustrated with the plastic bag used to protect my camera and my hands began to get cold without gloves.
