Rituals

There are two rituals going on here in Tatton Park.

The first is the annual red deer rut. The stags are really pumped up, bellowing and defending their groups of hinds from any potential incursion by a stag challenger. It’s one of the sights and sounds of autumn .

The second is the photographers with their cameras, lenses and phones, here to capture the spectacle. The invention of the camera and photography in the 19th century has come a long way. What started out as a specialist activity has become something that many people do as a regular part of their lives, and for all sorts of reasons. As anyone who has a journal on Blipfoto will know only too well.

Happy 17th birthday to this platform and community ! Just amazing that I’ve been posting a photo every day now for approaching 8 years. It’s just an enjoyable thing to do.
