What are the Chances?

....that this pea flower will actually grow into an edible pod before it succumbs to the winter? Or will it? It's always a gamble, this fall crop of peas. If our October weather was it's typical lovely self, it might just have worked. But fall and the rainy season came early this year and we've got nothing but rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future. 

The grandchildren came to visit today, as they usually do on Saturdays. We actually made bread and enjoyed the whole science of the yeast and dough. It was a simple, white bread recipe...good way to get back into baking bread. Great fun for a rainy afternoon!
