Final day, sunny all the way
A beautiful day.
Bright blue sky and not a cloud in the sky. Took Fletch out for his pre breakfast amble at 8:15 and boy was it cold! The weather app said 4 degrees and it felt like that. Considering we arrived 4 days earlier in 20 degrees it was quite a shock to the system. But the sun felt warm and it was a very beautiful morning.
Blip is of part of the grounds nearest to our room, at 8:30 am.
After breakfast we packed the car and found space for the extra large bonsai pot and the hornbeam, we paid the bill and then went for a long stroll round the grounds before setting off in a homeward direction. The M1 was busy.. but then every road has been very busy this week.. We were only on there for 30 minutes before we stopped at All things Bonsai, to collect another bonsai that M had bought online There was quite an icy wind when we stepped out of the car, but the bonsai place was sheltered.
We had a good look at everything and a long chat with the very pleasant owners and somehow managed to find a space for another bonsai that M "fell in love with". Just as well that the Rav has plenty of space, but even so we were finally at full capacity. I crossed my fingers and hoped we didn't break down or get a puncture... unpacking everything on the side of the road would have been a nightmare
Back on the M1 we only had 1.9 miles to go before we merged onto the M18... but that took 30 minutes! Such a lot of HGVs as well as plenty of cars. We ignored satnavs suggestion of travelling along the M62 ( no I dont believe that way is quicker!) Instead we carried on up the A1 , turned left below Wetherby and took the 'scenic route' across the Yorkshire Dales. It was very picturesque and the sun continued to shine. I gave a mental wave to Mambo as I drove past her patch.
Another stop at Twinlocks for a walk along the canal. Sunny but "by heck it were cold"
Considering we almost decided against setting off last Sunday (dreadful weather and forecast for the whole week) we have been incredibly lucky with the weather.
A lovely long break.... now to face the long dark months of winter!
I've almost caught up with the blips.
Thank you everyone who has commented on my photos and given me stars. They are always appreciated.
