Druridge Bay

Our last day of the recce; we had a good breakfast and then packed the cars and headed to Cresswell to check out a coastal walk on the Northumberland Coastal Path.  Most of the walk is along the beach, and it was fantastic to walk along with the breakers coming in ..... lots of people on the beach walking.  It is a very large bay and we could see for miles.

After about four miles we eventually came off the beach and walked through the dunes to a cycle path which took us after a mile to the country park at Ladyburn Lake.  There is a small visitor centre there and we were able to have a coffee and a short break. They are open all year and they will be very pleased to have our custom in February, we were told.

Then we headed home, via North Berwick on the Scottish east coast.  We had arranged a meal at the golf course there, and a really fine meal it was too.  While having our meal we enjoyed the wonderful view of the Bass Rock, lit up by the evening sun.  (see extra).

It was a very enjoyable and interesting recce and we were able to iron out some finer points for the club walking break which will take place next February, covid permitting.  The walks are varied, one to an island, one in the city, and one on the coast, so it should be an interesting walking break.
