Goldie

There was one goldfinch on each perch when I first tried to leave the house through the back door. They were still there as I quietly backed away into the house to get the camera out of the bag and change lenses. They were still there as I opened the back door a fraction to put the lens through and still there as I lifted the camera to my eye - then one flew away leaving the other to continue feeding and eyeing me suspiciously as I took several pictures.

We have had a pair of goldfinches nesting high in the laurels outside our back door for about four years now. They seem to be back again this year - both frequently seen on the telephone line near the laurels and regular visitors to the nyjer seed feeder.
