Red (Day 2354)

I started another bathroom re-fit this morning, and quickly realised that the can of worms was not only open, but spilled all over the rotten floor.
The walls of the shower enclosure are plywood with lino glued over the top. The shower tray was cut into the plywood. The plywood was rotten. The floor was rotten and part of the framing for the wall between the bathroom and the hall is rotten. To add an extra bit of excitement to the whole job, the electrics in the house didn't look great. A visit from my electrician confirmed that the supply for the electric shower is not adequate, or safe, and needs to be upgraded.
The majority of my day has been spent using a heat gun to get the lino off the plywood so I could find all the screws holding the plywood on the studwork, then removing the plywood. Tomorrow will be a day of wood butchery.
Back home, an emergency pizza delivery by  my beautiful wife was definitely the highlight of my day.
