What news on the Rialto?

Slightly to our surprise we’re in Venice.   Jo and Martin had asked us to Wales but with the petrol crisis we didn’t dare go but as they are now in Venice for a couple of weeks, researching his new book we took this offer up with alacrity!  Actually they are in a too small Air B’nB so we’re round the corner in a hotel.  It was weird being back on a plane, even weirder to arrive and have to go through the non EU channels.  We got a water taxi to the hotel and Jo and Martin came to find us and walked us off to where we’d booked for dinner   Delicious meal of lemon pasta with prawns.   The hotel is beautifully situated, we’re in a weird room that appears to have been designed by a Futurist with a malicious delight in practical jokes.  Everything seems to have a built in hazard.
