Diary of an Edinburgher

A Gaudi Day

Left the B&B and whizzed on the metro a few stops to drop our bags at the new abode. It's two blocks from Sagrada Familia in one direction, and La Pedrera a few blocks in the other direction. Same street!

We popped along to see Sagrada Familia, but didn't go in, the queues were loooong. We will go early one day. Great to sit and watch the activity in the wee park, including a headless man who kept tapping folk on the shoulder and I wish I could have got a shot of some of the looks! In fact, at one point he'd gone into the toilet, so I watched, and when he stepped back out again he must have caused a few near-heart attacks.

But the best thing was the bubbles. A few people were making BIG bubbles, and the kids were going crazy popping them. I spent ages taking photos. I even got down really low to try to get the top of SF in. Didn't.

The queue for La Pedrera was substantial, but moved quickly. What a marvellous place. Well worth the £16.50 to get in! There was plenty of room for everyone. Of course, it was impossible to take photos without a dozen folk in them.

More walking, coffee and cakes, and more Gaudi (Casa Batllo) then a wander back along our street, a beer, a pop into the convenient supermarket opposite (where JR kept saying 'Tak' - no, we're not in Denmark) and we are now very comfortable in our new home. Not a sound to be heard. I hope the neighbours below us were not at home when we tried and tried to get into their flat, and wondered why the key suddenly didn't seem to work. There are two floors called 1, so two flats called 1A.

Will try to catch up with comments!
