Diary of an Edinburgher

Barcelona Blipmeet!

What a great day. Not a great touristic day full of queueing and expensive entry tickets - no! We wandered our immediate area, Gracia, and pretended we lived there.

An exciting contact from SteinJ, notable blipping resident of Barcelona, to meet him!! We suggested a cafe recommended by our swappers - GUT - and set off to locate the exact location. Eventually found it, passing lots of blips on the way - another market full of fresh spectacularly strange fish. Lots of little dogs dressed in weird clothes, including two chihuahuas in dresses. Yes. Dresses. I asked if I could take a photo, and Mama was pretty picturesque too. She was happy to pose with her little treasures. But this was not to be my blip of the day.

Churros and hot chocolate (5 million calories at least) for breakfast at the Adonis Bar, recommended by our house swappers, then on, in a roundabout fashion, to check out the afternoon rendezvous. It was really nice. We had a beer at the bar. Then we decided to just have lunch, and it was very good. Surprisingly, the wine, bread and coffees were all included. I think the waiter might have explained this, but of course, we just nodded and agreed, none the wiser, so it was a nice surprise.

Back to our luxury abode for a snooze, then out to meet up with SteinJ. We decided to go to the Adonis Bar instead, thinking that a return visit so soon to GUT would be too much for the staff.

We had a great blipmeet with SteinJ. I had extreme camera envy! Turns out, that he used to live in our very street in Edinburgh in the late 70s!! My parents lived there at the time. Come to think of it, they did mention the terrible racket and comings and goings in Number 64 (just kidding, SteinJ!).

SteinJ left us to go off on holiday (that's a good excuse!) and we walked down to see Casa Batllo in the evening moved tables, had another wine, beer and nachos and settled for the evening. The bar filled up with families and young folk and old folk, and candles were lit. Beatles on the soundtrack. And I learned how to order a beer like a local- thanks SteinJ!

'Dos Cana, por favor'

A great day, in the local area, with no queuing and money spent on important things like food and drinks. And meeting a local. Just how I like it.
