Building Site : Street View
The beeping and banging has ceased but the heavy excavator is still parked there. We walked down the road to see if we could tell what was happening. It is interesting that we have always known there was a house there but could get only glimpses of their deck from the road and couldn't see their house at all from our house. Now that the screening shrubbery and trees are gone, we can see the building site better from our house than from anyplace else. This is the view from the road. Can you spot the foundation?
We ran into Bart on the way home. He said they are now waiting for an inspection from the structural engineer before they can proceed. They have been caught up in the supply chain problems along with practically everyone else in one way or another. Son-in-law Jim the electrical engineer is waiting for chips for the phone widgets that his company makes. Son Matthew can't get any baseball bats from Asia but thinks there are quite a few in container ships parked off Long Beach. We can't get essential parts for our bathroom remodels. Bart and Renee were told it could be TWO YEARS before they could get the refrigerator they want, so they went with something that will still take six months. I'm sure it will be at least that long before they will be needing them. Thinking they might like a bit of a break from the trailer they are living in, we invited them over for a glass of wine this evening.
It's even happening in Target where we went to buy toilet paper and paper towels.(plenty of that). Two women were holding some object and one said to the other, 'He doesn't want me to buy anything from China but what am I supposed to do?'
'Take off the label?' suggested the other.
Of course we wound up with more than paper products...a birthday present for grandson Owen, whose birthday last month we completely forgot, and two stuffed toys for Spike. Since he insists on amputating limbs, we got a snake and a shark....
Another fire watch seems to be drawing to a close without incident, and rain is predicted for next week. Probably not the two inches needed for an end of fire season to be declared, but enough to make us all feel a lot better....
