Between fen and mountains

Fig season

The figs are plentiful at this time of the year both cultivated and wild. There are often branches hanging over walls into the street with fruit on, often unpicked. I walked up to the Mairie this morning for a meeting with the Maire and his four deputies. I had called for this meeting after getting shouted at by one of the deputies over a bell insurance issue. Fortunately, everyone was on their best behaviour and the differences were resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. I hurried down to the tennis courts for a couple of hours practice before lunch and then did some weeding until a friend called wanting some help with the installation of an electric gate. I only had to hold the gate upright while he worked on some fittings and the job was soon finished.
