Almiropotamos

A lot of rain today too but by late afternoon it had cleared up and I had a good walk with a friend down to Almiropotamos, a drink there as it grew dark and then back up to our village for a taverna meal. During the meal there was a lengthy power cut and while we were sitting there by candlelight, the taverna owner regaled us with accounts of life in the village in the past, before electricity, running water, tarmac roads etc. Development came to this part of Evia incredibly late... they were still without electricity in the 50s, and donkeys were the main form of transport.
