Cockscomb, apparently

This amazing, huge flowering plant, a type of cockscomb according to my plant app, is in a beautifully tended yard in the village. I've tried to grow it but without success.
Attempted an early morning swimwith friends at our local beach before the rain, but it was full of jellyfish so we ga e up pretty quick and instead repaired to the taverna for a protracted coffee and brunch.
The rest of the day it poured with rain.
Dinner out with old friends who are over renovating their old house.
