Sisters
The seven tower blocks at College Bank in Rochdale (so-called because they stand on a bank, next to the College) are known locally as The Seven Sisters. The blocks, containing 762 homes, were designed by the Borough Architect, Derek Broadbent and built between 1965 and 1970, to a high standard. Despite their popularity with tenants, there are plans to demolish four of the blocks due, it is said, to the high cost of necessary refurbishment. This is controversial.
