Spare parts

In the invertebrate workshop it was time to release a new order: diptera, or flies as the inventors commonly called them. The team had been busy for many years creating a million diptera species, trying to fill every ecological niche of planet earth while maintaining an ecological equilibrium. Everyone in the workshop was helping making the inventory. They registered every species they had invented, their shape, size, feeding habits etc. Bee flies, mosquitos, stink flies, horse flies, robberflies, hoverflies, crane flies..each fly was analysed, admired and released. That is when one of the older Quality Control operators raised his hand and got everyones attention!
-We forgot to make a diptera that can feed on stink bugs!
The group murmured, it was impossible, unthinkable!
But after double checking the registry they realized that such an insect was indeed missing! But it was too late, they had used all the available resources.
They decided to sweep the floors and clean off all the tables and storages hoping to find enough material to create the one last species!
So if you've ever wondered why the tricopoda pennipes fly, the stink bug parasite, looks as if it was made entirely out of spare parts, well, now you know why!

And since I'm onto stinkbugs..TonyL sent me a link to a bbc article saying that stink bugs have been seen in the UK, so soon the brits will be sharing Italy's worry about them ruining the crop and entering into their homes in winter!
