Ringstone Edge

MONDAY

It was a bright morning and I headed out on a run, making up the route as I went along. I ran up to Barkisland, Krumlin and Ringstone Edge and ran back home over Norland Moor. Just over 14 km in total and some tricky terrain on the moor.

More tidying up and shredding at home. I've moved all the old bathroom waste material from the back of the garage to the bottom of the drive in anticipation of the skip arriving later in the week. We have now two WC pans, two wash hand basins and other stuff on the front lawn.

Today's blip is the Wheelhouse at Ringstone Edge Reservoir. The stone building is a listed structure.

"Wheelhousing for reservoir, 1886, Thomas Hawksley engineer (Wakefield). One of 2, the other wheelhouse is on Saddleworth Road (q.v.). Rock faced stone and ashlar. Cylindrical structure with arched doorway with expressed keystone. Heavy ashlar cornice and hemispherical dome topped by solid parapet with iron crown. A good example of the masonry traditions of the area"

25,000 steps so far.
