Birthday month - day 2
What could be more perfect than the Notting Hill Oyster Festival to end the weekend.
I was listening to one of the organisers who had the idea one day, put it out on social media the next and it really took off. Absolutely wonderful.
There was a selection of 6 oyster varieties and I was able to compare them. See extra for photographs of them to scale.
Here's my verdict:
Colchester - Very mild, slightly fruity
Roscoff - Massive size, strong flavour of seaweed
Maldon - Mild, slightly bitter
jersey - Mild, neutral flavour, slightly vegetal
Burley Creek - Very salty, strong flavour
Gillardeau - Meaty flavour, sweeter
