Almost finished

There’s just some gold curlicues along the border still to do, but it’s a great relief to see it almost complete. Bought the kit for a couple of quid at a charity shop shortly before the pandemic and thought I might as well try doing it. Wondered if I’d enjoy doing cross-stitch. (Turns out I don’t, but I’d started, so…..) 

It’s based on the Culloden sampler, though a cut-down version of the original which has what looks like Adam and Eve and a tree in an extra panel between the two figures at the bottom. Thought a lot about the wee girl who probably stitched the original - presume Peter Law was the redcoat and her daddy? The thread colours weren’t very well chosen - two mossy greens so similar that it’s quite hard to realise that the crumpled mass of green and yellow (bottom left) is a poor Highlander being run through with the redcoat’s sword. 

Now where’s that geansaidh I started ages ago…?
