Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Home to the wee man!

Our last day on Jersey, and we had been invited out for breakfast at (yet another) favourite beachy cafe, which was great, as it was pouring. The others were quite modest in their choices, but I could not resist the pancakes, which are truly epic here - ‘American fluffy ones’ to be precise. And - possibly for the first time ever - I couldn’t actually finish it all.

Through a slight mishap in flight times, we had a bonus couple of hours in St Aubyn (luckily the rain was off by then) before heading to the airport. (JR really needs to double check travel details - you’d think she’d’ve learned by now…)

We had a lovely flight into Edinburgh on a sunny evening, and couldn’t wait to go and collect Archie from the wonderful Derek. We’ve had numerous videos and photos every day, 38 today alone, which come in batches whenever I log in to some free wifi. It was Derek administering Archie’s pills, drying his beard every single time Archie had a drink, and going for long walks. Archie had been quite stand-offish for the first couple of days, then after that he was up on Derek’s lap constantly, pinching socks, sleeping on the bed, and generally making himself very much at home.

Derek said, “He’s his own wee man," We’re so grateful, knowing he was in good hands. Thanks Derek and Angela!

What a super holiday we had - great to see our pals after so long.

But it’s nice to be home.

The diet starts tomorrow.
