A Herd of Big Bird

Without counting, guess how many sand-hill cranes are in this shot. (Answer at the end.)

The flock was way too far off for me, but it's always fun to see them as they hit the fields before heading South.

Their "call" is my number #1 sound in nature, although it is very loud. In Michigan, some groups want to open up a hunting season on them, but, so far, it hasn't come to a vote.

The numbers? The answer? 30 cranes. When I decided to crop the shot into a rectangle, I cropped out 12 additional birds.
