End of an era
Today I did the last of my woodland butterfly transect surveys. That's once a week for the past 26 weeks. I've been walking the same transect for ten years now, that's 260 surveys with almost 6,000 records. I've decided to make this my final year. The site has deteriorated badly due to lack of proper management by the council so its quite disheartening. This year was the second lowest total over those ten years. For the record, my final observation was a Holly Blue.
