Strawberry Roan Homophone

A little horse peeping through the haws.

I photographed this foal in the Donkey Field in July but haven't been able to easily snap it again as my vantage point under the southerly oak tree is blocked by the huge bough that broke off.

We spotted it through a gap in the hedge this morning. It's a spirited little thing and responded to my chucking and brrrrrring. Its coat has changed from chestnut to roan. I'm not a horse person but think that this colour can be called strawberry roan. I very much enjoyed listening to this song of that name which tells the story of a bragging horse breaker who meets his match in a quirky and feisty strawberry roan.
