The Late Early's

We popped into Witney this afternoon as mrsfb wanted to try a 'walk in' hairdresser. I had a mooch about Witney and found the Witney & District Museum. There was a lot of stuff on display about the blanket manufacturer Early's Of Witney. It brought back a few memories as I worked for them for about 6 months, back in 1996/1997. In fact we relocated when I joined them, and although the job didn't work out the move to the Cotswolds certainly did. They sadly closed a few years after I left, in 2002 I think.

The blip shows a Point Blanket. The number of points indicated the size of the blanket. The story goes that in North America traders used the points to determine how many beaver pelts a blanket could be traded for, one point equaling one beaver pelt.

The haircut by the way was fine, as good as any cut from the other various hairdressers mrsfb has tried, and less than half the price too.

We had a busy start to the day. I managed to contact our decorator and he arrived to do some outside painting which needed to be finished before next week when the new veranda is being installed. And the electrician who couldn't make it on Wednesday arrived at virtually the same time. He finished first and was blocked in by the decorator's van. I asked him if he knew the decorator and he said yes, he's actually my next door neighbour! What are the chances!

The decorator brought his dog, Patch, who was very well behaved throughout, happy to lie in the sun on the (now very clean) patio (extra).

In other news I installed Windows 11 this afternoon. It went very smoothly.

Tomorrow we are off to Castle Bromwich for the last time as we exchanged on the FIL's house today, and will complete on Monday as we hoped.
