Stinkhorn
Another glorious September morning. I took the spaniel up onto Ashdown Forest for a change and was rewarded with this fantastic fresh Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus). Probably best viewed with a Frankie Howerd accent in your head (Titter ye not). I usually find these half eaten but this one has the olive green gleba intact. The gleba produces the infamous smell that attracts insects which then distribute the spores on their feet.
