Another day, another tower block

Today I met my son for lunch. He was in the Bristol office of the company he works for, just up and back to Devon in a day. So we went to my new favourite café, outdoors in Castle park.  I’ve posted pictures of the beautiful physic garden before. This view also shows another tower block under construction. On a brownfield site - actually the old ambulance station - so a good use of the ground - this one will be 26 storeys - all residential. 300 will be available to rent, but privately, so rents will be VERY high. And 75 will be ‘affordable’ which means you could just about buy if two people are on good salaries. Whatever happened to social housing - or council housing as we used to call it in the good old days. No-one on a minimum - or even slightly better- wage will be able to afford to live here. But they will be homes for someone- so, some progress.  And a lovely view for them every day.
The physic garden is still looking wonderful. And it was fantastic to see L -  we had halloumi wraps, followed by  good coffee and baklava.
