My lone little red squirrel scurries around the yard seeking seeds and nuts every day, not to hoard, but eat. I think it’s a she. She is very protective of whatever she considers is hers, chasing both gray squirrels and chipmunks away. Thankfully she tolerates me as long as I don’t get too close. And, can she chatter and curse! She’s a very expressive squirrel with a mind of her own. Tiny but Fierce! • Today we harvested all but three of our potato bags. Overall we did better than expected because of the generous rain, but the crop is less than in the past, and generally smaller. Now they will cure inside in the dark for a while before we begin eating them later this Fall • I think I saw a migratory bird in the cherry tree but I’m not confident in the identification. It stayed somewhat hidden and didn’t stay long. At first pass I think it was a Black-throated Green Warbler. I hope to see it again for a photo. Very exciting!
