The extinction rebellion ark

Weird coincidence - there was an article about this in today’s Guardian entitled “Ark attracts rising tide (groan) of interest in climate crisis” so you can google if you are interested. A fellow-blipper, knowing we’d be in the area, mentioned it so we had a look.

After leaving our wild camp at Kames we drove into Tighnabruich as I went there with my parents as a child - my mother was intrigued by the name. We had a potter - there was a sign on the pier that said you would get fined if you urinated or defecated there - if it annoyed anyone.

We got the ferry to Colintraive - £22.10 return for the five minute trip. I’m surprised our PM hadn’t built a bridge - he considered one to Ireland.

We drove straight to Mount Stuart, a stunning house (not had time to sort out photos) previously owned by Marquis of Bute. The money came from 19th century ownership of coal mines. The guide thought it was ok as the Marquis wasn’t involved in mining as he leased them out. Aye right. At one time he earned 1/3 of UK’s GDP.

We really enjoyed the tour round the house then had a 3 mile wander in the grounds before driving round to at huge camp site where we paid £10 to dump our black waste and fill up with water.

We are now wild camping at Ettrick Bay which has a great view over to Arran. It has been sunny and warm this afternoon but the clouds are appearing now.
