Race to the pool
The children running from the freezing harbour to the swimming pool. They were quite keen to get out of the weather!
EDIT: I originally posted this : Stormy Splash. The cove under the castle at Dunbar Harbour. We went for a little wander before swimming, which was great fun especially because we're all able to use the flume since Katie decided to try it a few weeks ago. She runs up and down non-stop now. Dragging ourselves away was the problem - more of which below...
Super Splash.
I spent the morning gutting and carpet-washing the other children's bedroom which was even more horrible than yesterday's! I ran out of carpet cleaner and ended up using Flash, which worked really well and smells much nicer than the "office" smell of the expensive stuff.
We decided to paint the nice clean rooms nice bright colours, so we visited the paint shop before swimming. They chose a bright orange and a bright green for the two rooms and the paint-shop-blokes went off to mix it. We planned to pick it up after swimming and have a test tonight. But...
We had such fun (repeat many times: "We need to get out now." "aaaaaaaWWWWW." "Ok, one more splash.") that we missed the paint shop. Also, as we arrived at the (shut) paint shop, the trailer fell off the bike. A little wingnut had fallen off, somewhere along the way.
So off we set with snow in our faces, we re-traced our route, gave up several times, found a pound coin, became heartened, continued, gave up properly, walked back the same way... And Katie spotted the little wingnut lying on the path! Cue comics and chocolate at the shop before a bit of brick-assisted repairs and a triumphant return home.
Now off to bed in very minimalist bedrooms. Long may that last! At least til Friday...
