A Saturday in September

I hadn’t realised, when I picked this book up from the second hand selection at work this week, that the author comes from a church just down the road in Wellington. Its a book I’m really getting a lot out of and I don’t think it’s just a bias towards a local author.

I ran a half marathon this morning, just so that my last big run wasn’t last week’s disaster. Marathon training is a head game and I’ve spent a lot of time worrying recently. However, I had a revelation while running today. This is probably the last marathon I’ll run, and it’s the one I’ve been dreaming about for years. Do I want to look back on it knowing I got a good time or knowing that I had the most fun ever? Defo the latter. And so I’m giving myself a break, allowing myself to run it really slowly and aiming to soak up every last bit of atmosphere.

The rest of the day involved chores. Being an adult sucks.
