Holidays Day Three
An excellent dinner last night, then our last holiday morning dawned in bright sunshine, though there were low hanging clouds over the hills around us. We set off south after our delightful stay. The owners, who’ve been there since 2005, say they’ve been very busy with UK visitors, not their usual American ones, which is what everybody in business has been saying.
We took the back road, and on whim, turned in to have a look at Loch Insh Outdoor centre. I always want to take photos of lochs first thing in the morning when they’re like mirrors, but it’s too hard to stop. By the time we got to Loch Insh it had ripples, but there were lots of paddle boarders and canoeists, and (fairly static) ‘wind’ surfers… it looked like a great place with a cafe, lodges and every kind of kit to hire. JR seemed quite keen to have a go sometime, safe in the knowledge that it’ll probably never eventuate.
We had a walk to the wee church up the hill, and stopped to admire Lysbeth Ramsay Dickson’s sweet grave in the forest (Extra)
We stopped in at House of Bruar, ostensibly to have a couple of their epic scones again, but we also managed to do some more damage to the bank card.
Back home to pick up Archie, who was quite excited to see us! Moira was happy with him, and said he was a very good boy, no problem. You’ll be seeing him again soon, Moira!
Arrived home to two blue NHS letters each! One offering a flu jab (miles away) and another with our updated Covid proof with the required QR Codes.
