Lovage

This is the time of year when I head to the garden at lunchtime to forage for salad leaves newly emerged from the soil.

With its tang of celery, lovage adds a real zing to my meals, particularly when mixed with other strong flavours like rocket, nasturtium, mint, tarragon and sage.

A mixed leaf salad with a poached egg on top made the perfect lunch today.
