Sheep's bit.
Fun day today, starting at Bobby's Bus Stop, this year the theme is COP 26, with many articles relating to saving the planet, complete with working clock. The effort and imagination that goes into the decoration is awe-inspiring (see extra 1).
We spent some time in the Unst Heritage centre then found lunch in Victoria's Vintage Tearoom before heading to Nor Wick.
This is a site of geological interest, being an exposure of the Moho layer, where rocks of different origin appear either side (Continental crust to the North, Oceanic Crust to the South - see extra 2, looking East).
We hoped to drive up to Skaw, the direct road is closed but we made fair progress over Holsen's Road as far as the RAF Skaw overview. It was too late and the wind far too strong to attempt a walk. Driving this road demanded patience and thoughtfulness as the sheep up there were unused to strange vehicles and tended to scatter, when stopped briefly I took the main photo, purely because I liked the contrasting colours of sheep's bit and heather against the phyllite rock.
Back to our little crofthouse, wind still blowing a hoolie, but we have had no rain since the wee small hours.
