Day 3: Llangennith to Port Eynon

We are walking the Gower section of the Wales Coastal Path. Today’s section included Rhossili and the associated Worm Head and we visited the Norman built Church of Mary the Virgin.

So what’s that got to do with a stained glass window??

Well , the window , which is in the church, entitled ‘ painting with light’ shows two figures staring into a crevasse one of whom maybe is Petty Officer Edgar Evans born in Rhossili who perished with Robert Falcon Scott on his ill fated Antarctica expedition in 1912.

The Norwegian Explorer Roald Amunsden reached the South Pole in 1911 literally only weeks before Scott and his party also reached the Pole.

Sad.
