Back to Basics....

Another busy day.
Spent the morning tagging calves then moving them and their mothers to different fields.
The contractor started cutting barley before noon , and by tonight had the 43 acres all done and was away back down the road with their combine. Now just an 11 acre field next door to cut with our own combine.
I spent the afternoon baling straw into wee conventional bales as we need roughly 500 every year . By tonight I had them all loaded onto trailers and under cover ready to empty tomorrow. Just as well as it came on drizzle about 10 pm.
Pity as there is about 30 acres left in the field to round bale, plus the 20 acres of wet oat straw, so not quite finished yet !
My mechanic pal was here welding up the grain drier too as it is at that age when it needs a bit of TLC to keep her going.
