Sally Mair - Loving life

She's back

People may have noticed the absence of a certain cat in my blips of late, so here, for her adoring public, is Cleo, ECB of the day.

Today was a busy day. I drive Ali and her husband over to Fife at lunchtime. The weather was really dull, haar and even a thick damp scotch mist. I noticed that Fife was not there as we set off across the bridge. It was a step, or a drive anyway, in faith, that we would make it to the other side!
Ali was to be 'best (wo)man' for one of her oldest friends at his wedding. Until yesterday we didn't think they would make it at all, so she was very happy. She even got into her outfit which was no mean feat. We left ourselves over an hour and a half to do the under 40 minute drive and in the end made it by the skin of our teeth, thankfully beating the bride to the venue. Our timing should have left us with more than 45 minutes in hand before the ceremony
Ali and I are always early everywhere we go and after yesterday's delays had left ourselves a good margin.
We were foiled twice, firstly by a broken down down campervan blocking one and a half lanes at the A92/A921 roundabout at Kirkcaldy, that delayed us by 20 mins as three lanes had to cram into one. Next, although I had checked the directions and had them in my head, for some reason I decided to follow Google satnav for the last five miles. Mistake! It took me off what I was sure was the correct road and round, via Leven in a 10 mile circle. After all that, the road it wanted to take us up was closed so we had to turn back to the point it had told me to turn off at - only to find that our destination was less than 5 minutes straight on from that point. Next time I'll just follow my nose and my built in sense of direction! They had a wonderful time though, they only stayed for the ceremony and photographs staying outside and avoiding crowds as much as possible. She was the most pregnant best man that I have ever seen though! There's a wee extra of the three of us disappearing into the mist.
The groom was to have been a bridesman at Ali's wedding had there been more than 5 allowed at the ceremony. What a year, Ali and two of her two best friends married and a baby due any time now.
I spent the time in a panic drive to Cupar to get petrol the reserve fuel light had come on just pay Kirkcaldy. That's what comes of using Colin's car not my own! Misson accomplished I picked up some sandwiches and a Dr Floyd's loaf from Fisher & Donaldson in Cupar.
We drove home without mishap and I spent the afternoon, or what was left of it, relaxing. We were having left over Indian takeaway for dinner so that was easy and as evening finished rewatching the previous series of Vera all ready to start on the new series. I have to say we were rather disappointed by series 10, the acting seemed rather wooden at times, which was surprising. Hopefully the new series will be better.

Keep safe everyone, I do hope the numbers are starting to fall.
