Whitby

Thursday 9th September 2021

A day of very changeable weather! We went in to Whitby first, for a walk around the harbour. It began spitting with rain but it was still warm. I took my gilet, mainly to keep my camera dry. By the time we reached the end of the harbour wall it was raining quite hard and we were soaked. I liked this panoramic as it shows the different weather each side of the harbour. We walked back in to town and went inside for a hot chocolate.

The rain then stopped and the sun came out. We walked a bit more around the town and then took the car up to the abbey, where we sat at the top of the cliff looking out to sea while we ate our picnic.

We moved on then to Robin Hoods Bay. By that time the sun was out and it was very warm, time to turn trousers into shorts. We started to walked down the hill until we realised just how steep it was and how far. We changed our minds and went on to Scarborough where we were able to park along the front. It was so warm we decided to go for a paddle in the sea, that was great fun although we did end up rather wet.

Back to base then for a lovely meal, great conversation with other guests and time to process photos. The thunder storm hit us early evening, with heavy rain and some dramatic lightning.

This is a four photo stitched panoramic.
