Labor Day Project. Leitz 50mm Summicron DR

I've been meaning to make this custom add-on for my old #6 Record plane for a while now.  I use this tool for jointing the edges of long boards before they are glued up into panels.  To control the plane better, I find myself putting my left hand - since I'm a Lefty - on the corner of the heel to guide the blade out of the cut.  Being quite sharp, that corner isn’t very comfortable to push against with all one's strength.  So I carved this custom thumb rest from a scrap of Macassar Ebony.  The idea is to hook the horn between thumb and second finger.  Two holes drilled through the side of the plane and threaded for the bolts, a generous French polish, and here it is.
