Daceyville

Today I went on a walking date with The Other M, within the permitted 5km of both our homes, to the suburb of Daceyville. It was named after John Dacey, state parliamentarian for the area from 1895-1912, whose vision was to provide low cost public housing for working class people, modelled on the garden city of Letchworth in England.

The estate was planned as a mix of residential and open green space. The dwellings, of bungalow and federation style, are almost all single storey with small gardens. While some are freehold, 69 percent remain as public housing. I'm so glad that the suburb is on the Register of the National Estate.

There's nothing unusual about the angle of my photo, but the occupants of the house certainly demonstrate a different angle on garden adornments. This is pure whimsy. Out of frame is a sign saying Welcome to our Garden.

Thanks for all your lovely responses to my spider yesterday. I appreciate them all.

Thanks for hosting BobsBlips. Stay well all.
