Oak Branches
This is something of an emergency photo. It's a view of the oak branches that weren't damaged by fire, our back gate onto our field, and the prayer flags from Travelphotos which once hung on the tree that died in the fire.
We were walking Spike this afternoon when we ran into our neighbors who are living in an RV on their property since their house burned down. We got to talking, one thing led to another and we all wound up on our porch drinking wine and beer and getting to know each other. We have lived next door to them for all these years and never really done anything but say hello to them. I suppose the fire provided the common experience to get the conversation started….
It turns out we have a lot in common and we have become much better neighbors. I was aware of my phone sending messages while we were talking but I ignored the insistent messages. Turns out that the power went out but was then restored without our ever noticing. I don't know if this is because our backup battery kicked in or just because we never needed power for anything.
Now we're throwing together a very late dinner and I'm throwing together this very late entry...at the same time. We'll see how that works out....
