Mr and Mrs?

On one of the beaches on Alderney, Crabby Bay, there seems to be a custom of making ‘figures’ by piling up pebbles. I noticed this one on our first day there and as the week went on several more appeared. I had to wait to get a nice blue sky in the background for a good photo! 
I was surprised when I went on the beach how difficult it was to walk on the large and uneven pebbles there, it is not a swimming beach as there is no sand and quite a strong current on this side of the island. The owner of the house we rented said it was one of the beaches where he goes fishing…he said he catches enough fish for them not to need any meat from September to November.
In the foreground are a variety of plants which grow in these conditions….one of the most common was Rock samphire also known as sea fennel. When I picked some it did smell pleasantly of fennel.
