Womble House

In Alderney there is a blue plaques trail and one of them is on the house where Elizabeth Beresford(1926-2010) lived. She created the ‘Wombles’ in 1968…the furry creatures of Wimbledon Common while living in Wimbledon. She had visited Alderney for holidays since 1961 and moved permanently to Alderney in 1978. I came across an old DVD of the Wombles recently and had a quick look at it….the sound and graphics were so poor compared to modern children’s programmes….so I didn’t show it to the grandchildren!
