Small Tortoiseshell ( Aglais urticae )
Little done on the summerhouse today we have reached the fiddling and snagging stages. Most of our efforts today have been based on changes to the patio. As Clickychick had it laid out you would have needed to be a high hurdler with a good run up to gain access without a round about route.
Part of the work required moving large pots when that was done some strands of the buddleia were clearly in the way. CC cut them off and put them in a jar on the cover of the fire pit (it makes a handy coffee table when not in use). As she expected the butterflies didn't notice the difference and posed very happily.
I haven't seen many butterflies until recently. I hope it is only because our buddleia has flowered late this year. It was just getting going when late frosts knocked it back severely.
