Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

Covid came a little closer ....

Or certainly, closer than is comfortable.

A friend from Scotland has come to stay for a few days, arriving yesterday late afternoon.  This morning, when I knocked to offer a cuppa in bed (we were having our usual morning cuppa) she told me that a friend (fully vaccinated!) with whom she had spent some time the previous week had messaged her to tell her that she was unwell, and her Covid (rapid antigen) test was positive.  B, like us, is also fully vaccinated - so the advice is to self test and if that is clear, no need to self-isolate.  We didn't have any tests in - up till now we haven't really felt the need to keep testing ourselves, our activities and contacts have been so limited - so I cadged a couple from our neighbour, and then went off to the local library to pick up a few boxes.

Fortunately, B's test was negative.  But it has scuppered her plans for the rest of her holiday, as the friends (one of whom is quite elderly) she was due to visit after us are understandably quite paranoid about exposure.  The morning delays also meant that our plans for the day were thrown out of kilter, but B has decided to stay an extra day here (testing daily), then go straight home.  So our plans for today can be delayed until tomorrow.

And we're due to have a week away in Suffolk next week, so we'll keep in touch and hope that B remains well, and negative, but also test ourselves before setting off for our break!
