Annette gain

I met up with Annette, an American bud I knew previously, and we ate falafel for lunch. It was great fun to see her again.

The café is overlooked by the Frelimo (Mozambique’s ruling party) building in the leafy suburb of Sommerschield. The headquarters have definitely had a sprucing up in the time I’ve been away, and I noticed new paintwork, neat stretches of pavement and pristine fences in the immediate environs. Frelimo’s leaders’ fortunes have probably fared better than most people’s over the pandemic period.

On the work front, various calls and various floundering around with the to-do list. By the end of the day the list contained a net gain of tasks and overdue items, but that’s simply replicating the general trend of the last few years.

The key piece of news is that my niece turned 4 months today. She is unbelievably cute and her photos do as good a job as any photo could of offsetting the work stresses.
