Earth-moving

While driving along the By-Pass (A720) we've been observing this field since the summer of 2016, when we noticed lorries depositing topsoil at the far side of the field. Work has continued steadily.

Instead of covering the whole surface evenly, for many months the soil brought in by lorries and bulldozed into small hillocks while still advancing new coverage; however, there seemed to be a limit at a 'ditch', closer to (but well below) the By-Pass level. More recently they have filled in the 'ditch', reached the near edge and also levelled off those hills.

And what is the purpose of this? We think topsoil is removed from the many, many building sites and held here, then, when the housing is complete, returned to form their garden areas.

I wonder if this line of empty lorries is part of this 'repatriation' programme.
