Meal on Skates

I popped out to the the local DIY centre for some (hopefully) last bits to complete my living room reorganisation project which I started back in April(!).  On the way home I stopped of at Lakeside Nature Reserve for a walk around the fishing lake.

I was thrilled to catch sight of a pair of kingfishers chasing each other around, and later I briefly saw one perched on a branch. There was zero chance of any photos, so I just enjoyed the sights.  An easier photgraphic catch was of this pond skater; one of many skating across the lake. It wasn't until I uploaded it to the computer that I saw why this one wasn't moving very far ... gruesome!
