A drive on our last full day

Our last full day in France, so in the afternoon we took our favourite circular loop up the valley to Vernet and then back across the hills to Prades.

I always stop and look at this view of St Michel de Cuxa and can't resist yet another blip.  This time we also found this small shrine up towards the right by the side of some woods and a fruit orchard,  Did a bit of an investigation and the shrine is to Saint Peter Orseolo, who was born in Venice in 928 and became doge in 976.  There was quite a scandal about his appointment, and in 978 he secretly left for Roussillon and entered the Abbey of Cuxa as a monk, where he died in 987.  Never knew that.

The third blip is of St Martin du Canigou, up in the foothills of the Canigou, and the last blip is one of the Massif.
