The Bell Tower

This is The Bell Tower, previously The Angel, and one of many former pubs of Chapel Street, such as The Peel Park Inn, The Crescent, and Ye Olde Nelson. Most have been demolished but at least the façade of this one was retained when it was incorporated into a block of apartments.

I found a photo from 2013, which shows the closed down pub with just wasteland to its left (as you face it). It just shows how quickly this area is changing. What you quickly get used to - and you see this elsewhere in neighbouring Manchester - is the mix of the old and the new.

We were on our way to Grub for the second occurrence of Amy Gledhill's 'A Lovely Time', which wasn't quite as funny as the first one but still well worth the walk.
