Family Learning Week

The official Family Learning Week is in October BUT ...that isn't the best time of year for our parents....so

we have it in March - usually a great month for parental involvement.

This year's focus was outdoor learning and games. Today we had Traditional Games, outdoor maths and transient art - all a HUGE success.

We wanted to know where they let their kids play locally and where they went as families in the Border area. We had a great response. We also asked what stopped them going out and what were the barriers...

sadly - dog mess, teenagers, muddy environment, feeling unsafe, limited facilities.

Such is the strength of the responses, we have since invited (and they have accepted) 3 councillors and an MSP coming to our showcase assembly on Friday - result!!!!

Woop Woop for change for children.

Their outdoor environment is not a token gesture any more!!! No more "tick the box" park area in a new housing scheme and a ball wall in a park. No more "tick the box" green space. Let's have some real consultation and real change.
